Fire Safety Research Institute This video was created initially for NFPA's 2023 Fire Prevention Week theme “Cooking safety starts with YOU! Pay attention to fire prevention.” However, the following tips are important to remember year-round!  - Stay in the kitchen while you are cooking.  - If you leave the kitchen for even a brief period, turn off the stove. - Keep anything that can catch fire — oven mitts, wooden utensils, food packaging, etc.— away from your stovetop.
